How Does This Work
SO HOW DOES THIS WORK ?
Fiberglass / rock wool traditionally used for insulation will ONLY work if it is new, installed correctly (300mm thick) and kept dry. As it gets older, the fibers become damp from condensation in your roof space, so your insulation becomes much less effective. The condensation then affects your joints and rafters, it can cause wood rot, attract insects/ bacteria and mould to form weakening the structures in your roof PLUS YOU ARE LOSING A LOT OF HEAT TO THE OUTSIDE – costing you money !
- Moisture in fibreglass/rock-wool should be at 0%, BUT often, insulation contains 10%, 20% or even 35% moisture – causing condensation and all the associated problems.
- Condensation settles on your roof joists and rafters, eventually causing the wood to rot – so your roof will need replacing.
- With damp conditions, mould can form escalating problems and creating a perfect place for mites and insects to flourish !

If your loft is not boarded out, we can still install SuperQuilt, it will work the same. If you do want your loft boarding out to use as extra storage we can quote you for this and do it at the same time as installing your new insulation.
